Monsters of Supernatural

The supernatural world is filled to the brim with different kinds of monsters, spirits and supernatural beings. They come from folklore, mythology and religions from all over the world. Things like vampires and werewolves but also the filipino aswang and the giant kraken, the japanese shōjō, or the zanna from romanion lore, which are creatures who guide and protect lost children.

There is no lack of monsters, and each looks and acts differently with its own powers and abilities. They have their own weaknesses, habits and lore, all of which is essential for hunters to know. The right knowledge can save you from a lot of sticky situations, after all.

There are those that appear so often that most if not all hunters are used to dealing with them. This does not mean that it is always easy, mind you. The common monsters are those like demons, former human souls that have been twisted by Hell into evil creatures that enjoy pain and suffering. They are vulnerable to salt, holy water, devil's traps and the demon-killing knife. Then there's also ghosts, of which exist many different types. They are spirits of the dead that linger in the living world for whatever reason. Most are repelled by iron and salt, and can be dispelled by salting and burning their remains. Not all ghosts depart so easily, mind you, so keep your wits about you.

Then come the monsters that everyone knows, the werewolves and the vampires. Werewolves are shifters that are able to transform into something that is part human, part wolf. They are born from an infection caused by the bite of an alpha, and possess an unnatural strength. They are vulnerable to silver. As for vampires, they naturally survive on human blood and will kill to get it. The only sure-fire way to kill them is by decapitating them; they might survive wounds that would otherwise be fatal to humans or lesser creatures.

Don't get too comfortable. Killing a werewolf or dispelling a ghost can be quite easy, but it's nothing compared to the more dangerous creatures and monsters that exist in the supernatural universe. There's the angels, powerful celestial beings that care about little other than themselves. They possess a great deal of power, and are immune to most weapons and magic. Even older and somehow even more powerful are the leviathans, ancient creatures that are nearly indestructible and cause nothing but death and destruction.

The reapers are also very powerful beings; they are the ones that ferry souls from this life to the afterlife in service of Death. They possess powers like chronokinesis, the ability to stop time, perception altering (meaning they can change how humans see them), astral projection and many others. They possess a few weaknesses, most of which are weapons belonging to beings more powerful than them, like angel blades, or some kinds of magic like the reaper trap sigil.
