Circle Sigils

Tracking Sigil
trackingPurpose & Functioning
Best used on a portable canvas, the tracking sigil combined with a monster sigil of your choosing will track the nearest monster of that kind.

The reason why you need to use something portable to draw this sigil on, f.ex. a piece of paper, a wooden plank, a brick, or whatever else, is because this sigil will rotate depending on where the target is. The top of the sigil with the rounded curve points in the direction of the monster you are attempting to find, so as you move or the monster moves, the sigil will adjust itself to lead the way.

Usage & Targeting
As stated above, it is recommended that you draw this sigil on a portable surface. This can be literally anything, and you can draw it with whatever medium you want (pencil, pen, blood, paint, etc.) so long as the sigils are clearly distinguishable.

To attune the sigil to a specific kind of creature, you draw said creature’s monster sigil inside the circle. However, this means that the tracking sigil will find the nearest monster of that kind and lead you to it.

If you want more specificity, f.ex. track a specific werewolf, you’d need to blend the relevant monster’s blood into whatever medium it is you’re using to draw. Dip your pencil into the blood, mix the blood into paint, and so on. This method is most used to find a monster that has gotten away after a fight, in which case you might have some of its blood on you or around you.

It’s important that the canvas you are drawing your sigil on and the medium you’re using to do so are compatible. This ensures that the sigil doesn’t rub off, which would nullify its effects, meaning you have to draw it again. For example you can paint or draw on a brick, a piece of paper, or wood, but a canvas made out of plastic for instance might be more risky as it the sigil could wipe off.
Locating Sigil
trackingPurpose & Functioning
This sigil essentially functions as a scrying spell. The empty center of it is meant to fit the monster sigil of your choosing (relevant to the monster you are trying to locate), and once the sigil is complete, the monster sigil will vanish and the monster’s location will be revealed in its place.

In short, the center of the sigil acts as the reflective medium used during some scrying spells and rituals. It’s important to note that without any specification, the sigil simply locates the nearest monster belonging to the sigil you’ve drawn.

Usage & Targeting
Once again, this sigil is used in combination with a monster sigil. Want to locate a vampire? Use the vampire sigil. Want to locate a daeva? Use the daeva sigil. This locating sigil can be used in combination with literally every single monster sigil without exception – it’s a matter of combining the circle sigil you need with the monster you want.

To find a specific monster and not simply the nearest one, you once again need something belonging to it. Since this sigil is not portable like the tracking sigil, any object will do. Whether you mix the monster’s blood into the sigil, place some hair, claws, teeth, etc. in the center of the sigil, or place an item belonging to the monster on the monster sigil, you will achieve the same effect.

Note: be aware that the location will not be displayed permanently. After some time, it will turn back to normal minus the monster sigil in the middle. However, whatever object you might have used in case of specifications will still be there, so hypothetically you can draw the sigil over as many times as you want to really memorize the location.
Trapping Sigil
trackingPurpose & Functioning
Like the name suggests, this sigil is used to trap a monster. Combined with the relevant monster sigil, it cages and restraints the creature it is targeted to when it enters the sigil. The strength of the sigil might depend on the user’s power and/or legibility of the sigil.

Wobbly marks will have less effects than clear, sharp lines do. If you’ve drawn the sigil without much effort, you’ll find that the creature will have a much easier time breaking out of it than it would if you drew the sigil with much conviction and clear sigils.

Usage & Targeting
Another way to make it more difficult for the trapped monster to escape is to add some of its blood, hair, whatever, into the sigil. This way, the sigil has zero effect on any monster other than the one you want to capture, even if they belong to the same species and respond to the same monster sigil.

For example, if I wanted to capture werewolf A, I might use some of its hair in the sigil so that when werewolf A, B and C, run across it, only werewolf A will get stuck. This is useful in situations where you were tasked with hunting a specific target.

Specific & Powerful Trapping Sigils
Specific sigils exist that aren't simply the base trapping sigil combined with a monster sigil: angel traps, reaper traps and devil's traps.

While it is entirely possible to simply add f.ex. the angel sigil into the base trapping sigil, this will always be less powerful than the more specific angel trap sigil.

Below, you'll find the angel trap, reaper trap and devil's trap sigil, respectively.

Depowering Sigil
trackingPurpose & Functioning
Serving the same purpose as the angel depowering spell, this sigil is essentially somewhat of a trap. Compared to the angel depowering spell, which 1) is specifically for angels, and 2) requires an enormous amount of blood, the depowering sigil 1) can target any monster based on the monster sigil drawn inside it, and 2) only requires for the sigil to be drawn multiple times to essentially ‘surround’ a location.

Usage & Targeting
To explain more clearly, the trapping sigil confines a monster within the limits of itself, but the depowering sigil creates a depowering field in a location, room or space by having multiple sigils drawn in different places. For example, you’ve drawn a depowering sigil on every wall of a room and lure your monster into said room. The sigils then take effect.

While it is called the depowering sigil, it’s crucial to be aware of the fact it doesn’t complete eliminate a creature’s abilities and strength. It weakens them so that you might have an easier time defeating them, but it absolutely does not make them harmless or powerless. You will still need an appropriate amount of caution when dealing with monsters in a depowered state.
Warding Sigil
trackingPurpose & Functioning
The warding sigil has a pretty straight-forward explanation: it wards a room, building, space, location against a specific type of monster. Much like the depowering sigil, you are required to draw multiple of the same sigil in various places around the space you want to ward and protect.

The power of the sigil’s effect depends on the amount of sigils drawn. One sigil around a building will have no effect, five sigils might be enough to protect a small cottage, ten are needed for your average-sized house… The bigger the space you want to ward, the more sigils you will need.

Usage & Targeting
When combining the warding sigil with a monster sigil, you specify the target of the warding, but also the strength of the sigil. You can compare it to a grate in a river. If you want to stop even the smallest things from passing, you’ll need a grate with very tiny holes; if you only want big items to be stopped, the holes in the grate can be larger.

As such, when a sigil has to ward against all monsters (without specification of a monster sigil and/or a specific monster within a species), it will have to divide its power into much smaller groups. When protecting against only one species, it has to divide its power far less, or not at all.

This means that it is more beneficial to place several warding sigils for numerous kinds of monster (f.ex. five werewolf warding sigils, five vampire warding sigils, etc.) than only drawing a bunch of empty sigils.

Regarding the specification mentioned earlier, the same principle applies as for other sigils. If you want to ward against werewolf A but not werewolf B and C, you will need something belonging to it.

Note: you can draw 5 werewolf sigils where only one contains something belonging to your specific werewolf and it will have the same effects as when all 5 sigils contain an item, but less powerful. For the best protection and warding when specifying, it is recommended that every specific sigil you draw contains something of the specific monster.
