The current Nephilim faction in the Nexus consists of those who have angelic lineage. This includes half-angels and their descendants!

Nephilim are essentially half-angels, inheriting a part of human soul from the human part, and angelic grace from the angel parent. As such, they can be considered hybrids. Nephilim are/were forbidden by Heaven, since they hold an incredibly amount of power, even greater than their angelic parents. It it said that when nephilim come into their powers, worlds die.

Since conceiving a Nephilim is forbidden, they were hunted down on Earth as well as their parents. The punishment is always the death of the child and both parents. This resulted in many nephilim going into hiding, and not a whole lot is known about them and the scope of their powers. However, since Jack became the new God and abolished many of Heaven’s laws, it’s unclear whether the prohibition on nephilim still exists.

A nephilim who has come into their powers has glowing eyes - it is one of their identifying traits. Oftentimes, but not always, their eye colour will indicate their lineage. For example, Lucifer’s eyes are red but his child’s eyes were golden instead. Their eyes don’t glow 24/7, mind you. They can pass for regular humans, but their eyes might glow in combat or when using their powers.

As mentioned before, they also hold an immense amount of power. This destructive potential is the reason why nephilim are/were forbidden.

The source of an Nephilim's power comes from their grace. If you were to remove the grace from the Nephilim, you would in theory remove their power and angelic side, leaving them mortal. However, it is important to note that is but just one theory of removing grace!

Essentially, the grace balances the two parts of the nephilim so it’s important to consider both halves, human and angel, when it comes to nephilim. When this balance is lost, the Nephilim in question begins to shut down all functions and therefore must recharge their grace in the etheral plane.

The reason why nephilim are stronger than the angels is because they have both angelic grace mixed with human - this is the very foundation of nephilim lore.

However, when a Nephilim dies there is lots of confusion about what happens. Some argue that they can still go to heaven due to their human counterpart but there is still the argument that they go to The Empty. This is a huge discussion with arguments on both sides.

The powers a nephilim possesses depend largely on their sire/lineage. Only fully realised nephilim are incredibly powerful, and should the half-angel be sired by an Archangel, their power would be even greater.

Nephilim can have a wide range of abilities, but some of them are considered pretty standard: Astral perception, rapid aging, telekenisis, possible immortality, super strength, telepathy, and healing.

Due to them being persecuted, nephilim lived largely in hiding, and this resulted in very little being known about their weaknesses. Here are the ones that are known: angel blades, grace extraction, powerful rituals, very heavy angel-warding & God Almighty.
