Though we have several wonderful (WoSderful?) books on how to write a backstory, I always end up gravitating towards this one, and I've ended up on that page many, many times. The sidebar makes it easy to navigate, and it has explanations of the different factions and also very good questions that help you think in-depth about your character. I definitely recommend giving this a read if you're in need of some Backstory inspiration for a new character or want to expand your BS a little!
