Check out this fabulous interview of random questions that I did with the amazing Nola Addams. The only interview where the writer is weird and the questions are weirder. Weirder? More weird? Can someone teach me to write? Enjoy!
Question: Do you read reviews about a movie before deciding whether to watch it or not? Why or why not?
Answer: NO! Absolutely not! I hate reviews and most of the time it includes major spoilers! Also, why would I ever decide something based on someone elses opinion? If someone hates your clothes, would you instantly hate it as well? Exactly.
Question: What is your favorite ice cream flavor? Why?
Answer: Cinnamon Ice Cream! Have you ever tasted that? It's absolutely amazing! It's so lovely. The taste, the texture.. Now I'm hungry, thank you very much. If you ever screw up with me, gimme some Cinnamon Ice Cream and all will be good. Most stores don't sell it tho, so that's quite hard.. But it's definetly worth the search!
Question: What is the longest that you've gone without doing laundry?
Answer: This is a terrible question Joelle, why would you do this to me?! Okay, so I'm Home Economics instructor, but I had no clue how to do my own laundry when I moved out.. That's why I think it's major important to teach this to our students already. So, when I first moved out, I left because of a huge fight with my parents. I didn't talk to them for over a year. I didn't even own a washing machine and I had never heard of a laundromat and because of the fight, I never dared to ask how this whole laundry thing worked.... I used to buy super cheap underwear and and socks and everything and just throw them away once I had worn them once. I would just hang the rest of my clothes outside, so the wind would 'clean' them, because I thought that was how it worked. I went through a lot of deodorant around that time.. It was terrible and I was so broke because I bought new clothes every month. I couldn't get the grass stains out of my clothes of course and I never thought about just putting them in some water to clean. I just didn't know better! Well, until I ran into Nick. I knew him since I was like 2, because he was my neighbour. Yes, yes, boy next door love. Well, I went to a different High School then he did, because I moved and then we just lost contact. I moved out when I was 19 and I ran in to him just before I turned 21. He taught me how to use a washing machine then.. So, long story short, I went without doing my laundry for almost 2 years....
Question: If you could choose any era to live in, what would it be?
Answer: *starts singing* Oh, I wish I was a punk rocker with flowers in my hair! In '77 and '69 revolution was in the air! I was born too late, into a world that doesn't care... Oh, I wish I was a punk rocker with flowers in my hair! When the head of state didn't play guitar, not everybody drove a car, when music really mattered and when radio was king! When accountants didn't have control and the media couldn't buy your soul, when computers were still scary and we didn't know everything.. Oh, I wish I was a punk rocker with flowers in my hair... *stops singing* I could continue singing if you want? But I think that would kinda describe it. It would be the same era, but just a tad bit earlier, when footballers still had long hair and dirt across their face. I can't help but sing, because that song just SO describes me... It's 'I wish I was a Punk Rocker' by Sandi Thom by the way, in case you wondered. Any more questions? *insert smiling Nola here*
Question: Would you rather be granted 3 wishes of your choice 10 years from today or be granted 1 wish today? Why?
Answer: 3 wishes 10 years from today, definetly. Right now I'm really happy. I'm engaged, I've got a job, some great friends. The only issue in my life is that I'm not capable of finding the perfect wedding dress, but even so, I wouldn't want to waste a wish on that, because even if I don't find the perfect dress, I will be marrying the perfect man and that's all that matters. It would be cool tho, being able to find the perfect weddingdress. But I'm sure harder times will come and for then I will be able to fix some terrible stuff with three whole wishes! So that's pretty awesome..
Question: If you had to give yourself a new name, what name would you pick? Why?
Answer: I would chose something more Dutch. I'm half Dutch, half Irish, but you can't see that from my name, but obviously you can hear the Irish accent, but you can't hear the Dutch so I would fix that. Nola is an Irish girls name, so even there the Irish part is featured. It would probably be Nola Maarschalkerweerd, because that's impossible to pronounce for anyone that doesn't speak the Dutch language so that should be funny to hear. I would love to hear my teachers from the past, or even my students right now, try to pronounce it! Intructor Maarschalkerweerd. Miss Maarschalkerweerd. Nick Addams, do you take Nola Maarschalkerweerd... I think I would die laughing everytime someone tries, although that might be a bit mean....
